DRECP Boundary

Dec 5, 2011 (Last modified Feb 23, 2018)
Description:
This dataset displays the Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan (DRECP) planning area as identified by the CA Renewable Energy Action Team Agencies: The California Energy Commission, the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The DRECP Planning Boundary is based on the USDA Ecoregions in California (Bailey,1995) and encompasses the Mojave, Sonoran and Colorado sub-ecoregions. The boundary was modified to include additional areas of high value renewable energy resources in and around the Tehachapi Mountain area (Kern County), and also to exclude the area covered by the the Coachella Valley Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan (Riverside County). The DRECP boundary also covers most of the California Desert Conservation Area (CDCA).
